Gigantic 10-foot beast weighing 31 stone found living in sewers underneath city

City workers made visits to the toilet that little more nerve-wracking when they discovered a mammoth three-metre crocodile lurking in the sewers.

In scenes that may excite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans, the workers in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico were left gobsmacked after discovering the massive croc blocking the city's sewage system.

The Drinking Water and Sewerage Commission staff were cleaning the city's pumping station when they heard an odd sound that sounded like an animal thrashing its tail. Upon further investigation, they found the whopping beast flicking its tail beneath them in the underground plant system.

The ten-foot-long creature, which weighed 440 pounds, or around 31 stone, had reduced the city's water flow by nearly 70%, according to the Comision de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado.

Local Civil Protection officers were quickly called in for the professional removal of the sewer monster.

"A crocodile measuring more than three meters was located in the Guadalupe Victoria aqueduct and after its rescue, was transferred to its natural habitat," local authorities reported after the crocodile was freed.

The reptiles haven't been far from the headlines this week, as the Daily Star reported on a desperate search for a former radio host who disappeared while fishing in crocodile-infested waters.

Roman Butchaski, known as Butch, did not return from a solo fishing trip in northern Queensland, Australia, on Sunday (November 12).

Air and land searches for the veteran Sydney Radio 2GB presenter, who is in his 60s, have found his vehicle, fishing rod and personal possessions – but not him. "Butch is missing," 2GB host Ben Fordham told the station's listeners.

Mr Butchaski's former co-host Gavin Pitchford told 2GB that his friend was a regular visitor to the fishing spot on the Olive River, located roughly 600km north of Cairns.
