Budget airline easyJet is refusing to cancel flights to the Greek island of Rhodes, despite the raging wildfires continuing to spread throughout the island for the sixth consecutive day.
The airline stated it “is currently operating flights as normal to Rhodes” but said it was “monitoring the situation closely”.
This has sparked confusion and criticism online as one Twitter user, @Gooner85 asked: “Normally? The Island is on fire.”
Another startled user, @tigerst88570451 wrote: “Why would you still willingly fly people out to an island which is currently in the middle of a disaster?!”
This is in contrast with holiday company Jet2 cancelling five flights to Rhodes, while TUI cancelled all flights there until Wednesday.
