Four students have been killed and a further 60 injured in a stampede at an open-air music concert in India.
The tragedy at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in Kochi, Kerala unfolded as concertgoers ran to an indoor stairwell to escape heavy rainfall.
More than 2,000 people tried to move inside to avoid the extreme weather at the Nikita Gandhi concert, held as part of the university’s Tech Fest celebration.
In a statement, Kerala’s health minister Veena George said: “Four persons were brought dead to Kalamassery Medical College.”
Kochi is a city located on India’s southwest coast.
