Lakewood police are investigating a fatal Saturday morning shooting near an RTD station that left one person dead.
Just before noon on Saturday, officers responded to reports of a shooting near the Lakewood-Wadsworth RTD station, at West 13th Avenue and Yukon Street, according to a Saturday news release from the Lakewood Police Department.
When officers arrived on scene, they found one victim with a gunshot wound.
Paramedics transported the unidentified victim to the hospital, where they later died from their injuries, police said in a Sunday update on X. The victim will be identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the public, police stated. The investigation is still active, and police have a suspect in custody.
