Woman ‘ran brothel using witchcraft to keep sex slaves in line’ say police

A woman arrested for running a brothel allegedly used “witchcraft” and animal sacrifices to prevent five women under her control from leaving the establishment.

30-year-old Jazmin Russo-Martinez was taken into custody by Las Vegas police after a traffic stop on Tuesday, April 20.

Her arrest is the result of a six-month surveillance operation which followed the arrest of 48-year-old Said Rodriguez-Rodriguez, known locally as “The Godfather” who was arrested in October on charges of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking of an adult.

Police officers searched websites and newspapers known to be used for advertising by sex workers and began chatting privately with a few women. Those conversations led them to an address in eastern las Vegas.

Observing that large numbers of men would park outside and go into the building for half-hour “appointments” officers stopped some of these men who admitted that the house was a brothel.

Police raided the property and found condoms, feminine hygiene products and several “brujeria” or voodoo-type shrines that had smeared with blood.

“Detective also observed a shrine at the entrance of the residence and the figures were covered with [what] appeared to be blood,” says a police report. “Walls to the rooms also appeared to have blood on them … all four wall corners of the garage also had what appeared to be blood smeared on them.”

When interviewed, a number of women who worked at the house told police that Russo-Martinez ran the brothel and that she threatened to harm them and their families if they stopped working.

One woman told police that Russo-Martinez threatened to curse her if she tried to leave and that “The Godfather” had sacrificed a number of animals in the house.

“[Russo-Martinez] would scare girls to work by telling them they would be cursed if they left and that on other occasions girls have disappeared and it’s what happens when they leave the house,” one of the unwilling sex workers told investigators.

Russo-Martinez had also allegedly claimed that one woman had run away from the brothel and soon after been fatally stabbed “and it all happened because she left”.

Another of the women, according a police report, “said she was under the impression she would only do massages but was later told by another female she would have to have sex with the males.”

“[She] said she felt uncomfortable but stayed because she needed the money.”

When questioned by police, Russo-Martinez said she would "only answer to God," and responded to the allegations of witchcraft by saying "I'm g;ad you're taking an interest in my religion."

Russo-Martinez is being held on $25,000 bail and has a court appearance scheduled for May 6.
