Woman killed lover and put head and penis in bucket in drug-fuelled sex game

A woman accused of decapitating her lover during a sex game and then stuffing his severed head and penis into a bucket is set to plead not guilty at her trial, by reason of insanity.

The trial for Taylor Denise Schabusiness, 25, is set to begin March 6, 2023, online records show.

Schabusiness is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault for allegedly killing Shad Thyrion, 25, in February 2022.

But lawyers acting for Schabusiness claim she doesn't understand the charges against her – and isn't mentally capable of standing trial in March.

Shortly before Thyrion’s death, Schabusiness had removed an electronic tag that she had been ordered to wear after being found guilty of an unrelated crime.

A warrant had already been issued for Schabusiness’ arrest for violating the conditions of her release, but before she could be arrested, Thyrion’s mother had found his head in a bucket at her home home on Stony Brook Lane in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Officers who responded also found a “male organ” in the bucket, as well as other body parts scattered around the house.

Police later searched Schabusiness’s van discovering a cooking pot containing human remains.

After her arrest on February 23 last year, Schabusiness, is alleged to have told investigating officers that they were “going to have fun trying to find all of the organs.”

She told detectives that she and Thyrion had been using methamphetamine before going to his mother’s house for a bondage sex game.

She then, according to prosecutors, sexually abused him, dismembered the body, and placed body parts in various locations in the home and a vehicle.

Green Bay Police Officer Alex Wanish later said that he had "observed the plastic bucket on the floor…[with] a shower/beach towel over the bucket". A human head was discovered inside the bucket.'

Schabusiness reportedly told Green Bay police that she continued having sex with Thyrion’s dead body for some time after his death “because she enjoyed it”.

A police statement said: ”Schabusiness made the comment that at one point, she did get paranoid and lazy and that she thought it was the "dope" that was making her paranoid."

But since her arrest Schabusiness has undergone two competency evaluations — one by a state expert and one by a defence expert.

On May 19 last year, Judge Thomas Walsh ruled that she is competent to assist in her defence, according to WBAY-TV.

Schabusiness's lawyer, Quinn Jolly, said “She’s been psychiatrically hospitalised multiple times, she’s been diagnosed with bipolar and psychotic. This may have been one of her better days, however, I’m very surprised at the result of this report”.

In October, he added, he had recently seen a dramatic decline in his client's ability to understand the case made against her.

However Matthew Seipel, a psychological expert appointed by the court, maintains that Schabusiness is fit to stand trial.

He said: “I reached the opinion to a reasonable degree of professional certainty that the defendant is competent to proceed in this case”.

For now, Schabusiness remains in jail with a $2million bond.
