A jail deputy in Weld County has been arrested as authorities investigate if he was involved in an intimate relationship with an inmate.
Greeley’s Jason Hillyer, 32, was arrested Thursday and booked into Weld County Jail on one count of sexual conduct in a correctional institution, a Class 5 felony.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office said Hillyer was placed on paid administrative leave on June 29 when the allegation was reported to jail staff. Hillyer is now on non-paid administrative leave following the arrest.
The initial investigations were conducted by Weld County Sheriff’s Office internal affairs unit and the sheriff’s office’s criminal investigations unit. The investigation into Hillyer is ongoing.
Hillyer was hired as a jail deputy on June 18, 2018, according to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.
