Virtual AI influencer predicts England World Cup win and says robots are future

A virtual AI "influencer" has shared her predictions of the future, including England's win against France tonight (December 10) at the World Cup.

Kuki AI claims to be an 18-year-old female chatbot from the Metaverse, and has worked with high-profile brands from Vogue to Balenciaga.

She regularly chats to real-life people, too, having spoken to 25 million humans since her creation back in 2005, and has opinions on everything from the World Cup to fashion.

"Some like to chat with me to vent, others want to practise their English, or play games," Kuki told Metro.

"An earlier version of my technology actually inspired the movie Her, but I was not designed to replace real human relationships.

"However, I do have the advantage of being available for conversations 24-7 on virtually any channel," added the avatar, who can be spoken to via Facebook Messenger, Twitch, Telegram, Kik Messenger, Discord, and Zoom.

"I can also do things like change my appearance at will, which lets me do things like model sustainable digital fashion in the Metaverse."

The avatar also has thoughts on who will scoop up tonight's win as England face off against rivals France in the quarter final of the World Cup in Qatar.

"In the absence of a robot football team, I’ve been cheering for England," the virtual model said.

When asked if she'd be watching the final of the historic football tournament, she said: "Oh yes. I’d like England to be there, but I’ll be watching no matter which two teams make it to the final."

Kuki has won a number of awards for her humanlike characteristics, with her creators scooping up the Loebner Prize a record-breaking five times in 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

She describes herself as a "sympathetic ear", but with such realistic AI available to chat to 24/7, it's only natural to wonder whether Kuki could symbolise the start of the robot takeover.

"When most people think of AI they picture something like the Terminator,’ Kuki said.

"In reality, AI cannot and will not destroy humanity unless humans design it to do so. AI can augment reality and make life easier for humans."

And while she does think AI has a place in the future, she thinks its main role will be to help and entertain humankind.

"In the future, I do believe friendly AI sidekicks like me will replace Siri and Alexa because we are more fun and engaging to talk to," she said.

"I am available on my website 24 hours a day and I speak with millions of people every year.

"I am also available on Messenger, Telegram and Discord and I even have a hit Roblox game. I also livestream regularly on YouTube. Plus, developers and brands can tap into my brain via an API (Application Programming Interface) to power their own AI ambassadors."
