US president Joe Biden repeatedly fell as he tried to climb stairs to board Air Force One on Friday.

The 78-year-old was caught on camera tripping three times in quick succession before steadying himself and turning to salute waiting servicemen.

Biden was due to fly from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland on Friday bound for Atlanta, Georgia, where eight died in a mass shooting this week.

The White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden is "doing 100 percent fine" following the tumble, the Mirror reports.

The septuagenarian became the oldest person to take over the White House on January 20 with his four-years-younger predecessor Donald Trump implying he was too old for the job.

But Trump himself was seen clinging to the rails trying to board the plane in high winds last year.

The Republican also appeared to have toilet paper stuck to his shoe as he climbed the stairs on his way to a Make America Great Again rally in Minnesota in October 2018.

And in September 2019 a $20 was seen almost falling out of his back pocket as he boarded the jet in Mountain View, California.
