UK’s first vegan butcher selling ‘bacon, burgers and meatballs’ opens next week

Britain's first permanent vegan butcher is set to open in London at the beginning of November.

Rudy's Vegan Butcher is the new venture from the people behind Rudy's Vegan Diner in Camden, promising plant-based alternatives to meat favourites like bacon and burgers.

The new shop, based in Islington, looks like a traditional butcher's but with a twist.

CGI images of the store layout reveal that it'll have a huge counter for vegan produce.

Along with meat staples perfect for a barbecue or a Saturday morning Full English breakfast, there will be a meat-free charcuterie (delicatessen) selection, with smoked ham, pepperoni and pastrami, perfect for a night in.

The store is set to launch on World Vegan Day, LadBible reports.

To celebrate the opening, Rudy's is giving away 100lbs of free baycon (the plant-based option) to the first 200 shoppers through the door, with each person receiving 'half a pound'.

A post on social media says: "In just two weeks on World Vegan Day, Rudy's Vegan Diner is bringing the first permanent vegan butcher to London town.

"Imagine stocking your fridge with Chef @matthew.j.foster's homemade pastrami, dirty burger patties, cheeze sauce & chilli-non-carne. Take them home with you & get creative in the kitchen!

"You can even recreate your own Rudy's specials and fill your basket with a rack of jack, lobstah salad, meatballs, chick'n lover pate, shredded BBQ pulled porc and even roast turk'y!"

The shop will also offer nationwide delivery for anyone who isn't based in London.

Any orders made on World Vegan Day will include a free pack of baycon.
