An office providing some of the best views of one of Spain’s most beautiful seaside towns is among the most coveted in the EU.
Alicante is a well-known holiday destination visited by Britons year-round, with its high temperatures and glittering beaches enticing more than three million tourists a year.
The Spanish town’s draw goes beyond holidaymaking, however, as Alicante has persuaded hundreds of thousands to up sticks and make a permanent move to the town.
Among the many draws for those considering growing roots in the Costa Blanca community are the views from local office buildings.
One building in particular has been dubbed the best in the town of just over 300,000, and it is currently occupied by European Union officials.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has a coveted office building right on the Alicante coast.
The office – which handles the bloc’s trade mark and design applications – is the base of operations for 1,200 staffers and boasts an impressive €455 million (£396 million) self-funded budget, according to a report by Politico.
Those funds have allowed the agency to invest in its sprawling offices on the Spanish coast, where staff drink in some of the most impressive views the country has to offer.
A balcony built into the building’s roof provides a sweeping look at the beach and even the mountains of Alicante.

The offices are more than just that view, as EUIPO staff also have a range of facilities to cater to their wants and needs.
The agency has access to both a basketball court and a football pitch, which bosses have championed as helpful for employee morale.
Staff can even eat at a restaurant built to serve the offices that comes with a bespoke menu.

Visiting EU officials can pick from tasty local dishes like octopus carpaccio and slow-cooked beef, which chefs serve with a truffle jus.
The impressive facilities don’t mean workers have an easy life, as their jobs are about to get that much harder.
Staff handle approximately 174,000 trademark applications a year, and they will also gain oversight of a register of patents as the EU plans to regulate standard essential patents (SEPs).
