Teen admits killing younger sister, 15, in caravan park domestic disturbance

A teenager has admitted to killing his 15-year-old sister at a holiday park.

At Mold Crown Court on Monday morning Matthew Selby pleaded guilty at to the manslaughter of his younger sister Amanda.

The 19-year-old of Windermere Crescent in Ashton-Under Lyme, Greater Manchester originally faced a murder charge with but has instead admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Judge Rhys Rowlands adjourned the case for sentencing, adding that "a lot more" work needed to be carried out now – including a psychiatric report.

He confirmed a provisional date of Friday, March 18, at Mold Crown Court.

Police confirmed Amanda's tragic death soon after midday on Sunday, August 1, following calls to a domestic disturbance at Ty Mawr in Towyn, on Saturday afternoon.

Selby was arrested and officers stated that no further risk was posed to holidaymakers on the same site.
