A tattooed satanist who murdered three men and claimed to have used them as human sacrifices was caught after he buried his victims behind his house of horrors.
John Alexander Lawson – who legally changed his name to Pazuzu Illah Algarad – spent his days making animal sacrifices, drinking blood, and having orgies in his home.
He covered his face with tattoos and filed his teeth down to points – but nothing satisfied his need for bigger tributes to the devil he worshipped. He needed more.
Not much is known about Pazuzu's early life to really determine where his obsession with evil started.
But the people who knew him as a child described him as 'a little off-kilter, a little emotional,' according to the documentary producer, Patricia Gillespie, who worked on the documentary series The Devil You Know about his life.
He was also diagnosed with several mental illnesses as a child, including schizophrenia and agoraphobia.
His mother, Cynthia initially got Algarad the psychiatric help he needed but when she ran out of money and was no longer able to afford treatment for him, his mental health deteriorated pretty quickly.
In an interview for The Devil You Know, Cynthia said, “He wasn’t by any means an angel, but he wasn’t a bad person or a bogeyman or whatever phrases people have called him.”

Her son became Pazuzu in 2002, when he changed his name to pay homage to the Assyrian demon referenced in the movie The Exorcist.
After claiming this new identity, he did his best to ostracise himself from society, covering his face in tattoos and filing his teeth into points.
He would talk about his animal sacrifices and how he would go down to the river and eat the hearts of rabbits to give him the 'best rush' he's ever had.

According to a psychiatrist, Algarad bathed no more than once a year and had not brushed his teeth in years, claiming that personal hygiene washed away his powers.
His dark nature drew other outcasts in, he would eventually take over his mother's house with women who he would refer to as his fiances.
They would have orgies and self-harm together while consuming alcohol and drugs.

The house was in a dire condition – there was rubbish everywhere, animal carcasses lying around, and blood smeared on the walls with satanic messages and pentagrams painted everywhere.
During his intoxicated state, he would confess to killing people, but others dismissed these admissions as a product of his drunk mind.
But in 2010, Pazuzu Algarad was charged with accessory after the fact of involuntary manslaughter after he allowed a murder suspect to stay at his house following the body of Joseph Emmrick Chandler being discovered in Yadkin County.
Four years later, the skeletal remains of two men were found buried in Algarad’s backyard. They were later identified as Joshua Fredrick Wetzler and Tommy Dean Welch, who had both disappeared back in 2009.
Amber Burch and Krystal Matlock, two of his (known) fiancées who frequented his home, were charged with assisting him with the killings.
The following year, the house of horrors was demolished and Pazuzu committed suicide in his prison cell with a deep cut on his arm – but it is not confirmed what tool he used to do it.
