Spain coronavirus: 849 deaths in 24 hours – total confirmed cases now 94,417

This has seen the death toll rise to 8,199 from 7,340 on Monday.

But the Spanish health ministry said the daily increase in percentage terms is slightly lower than in previous days.

There were also more than 9,000 new coronavirus cases, up from 85,195 on Monday to 94,417.

There have been nearly 38,000 deaths across the world from coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Spain has registered the third most deaths, behind Italy and the USA.

Last week, the country overtook China – where coronavirus originated – in terms of the number of deaths from the pandemic.

There have also been nearly 800,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with the deadly disease spreading to some 200 countries.
