A family has had a shockingly memorable Independence Day celebration when they saw a shark hunting a seal just metres away from a beach.
Kim Reilly and her family were enjoying their July 4th holiday at the Nauset outer beach in Orleans, Massachusetts until they spotted a shark attack close to the shore.
"Oh my God! This is sad, you guys are not going into the water," Kim said in a video she shared on Facebook.

The footage shows the seal's blood pooling into the water as the apex predator chomps on it back.
It is dragged under for a short while before it breaches the water in a last bid to escape.
But the shark won't let go of its meal.
Kim said the scene "literally happened right in front" of them as the waves are seen breaking in the video.
Her friends and family were shocked as they commented in her post and they "felt sad" for the seal.
"This is exactly why I don't get in the water anymore!" one said while another penned: "I could never watch this or laugh while watching activity like this."
According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the shark season stretches from around the start of summer into early October, and beaches regularly close for shark sightings.
The shark feed happens close to the shore at dusk, expert said.
