Royal fans accuse Meghan of copying Kate with outfit for awards ceremony

Meghan Markle's outfit choice on the red carpet in New York led royal fans to accuse her of “copying” Kate Middleton.

Prince Harry and Meghan arrived at the Robert F. Kennedy Awards to collect a Ripple of Hope Award for challenging structural racism in the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Sussex sported a white off-the-shoulder dress for the occasion but eagle-eyed social media users were quick to compare it to a similar outfit worn by Kate.

One Twitter user wrote: “Oh she's copying Kate off shoulder and white gown. Of course.”

A second posted: “Copying Kate with the neckline but that's where any resemblances end. One more definite thumbs down to join all the others!”

Others commented “Copying Kate….much!!!” and “She’s trying so hard to be Catherine.”

One social media user chimed in with: “OMG, she is truly jealous of Princess of Wales Catherine.”

In announcing the couple as winners, former US President John F. Kennedy's niece, Kerry, praised them for claiming to Oprah Winfrey that they had been questioned about the colour of their son Archie's skin.

According to Ms Kennedy, Harry and Meghan exemplified the "moral courage" her late father called for during a speech against apartheid in South Africa.

For nearly 50 years, the prize named after the former United States Attorney General, has honoured exemplary leaders who have "demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social change and worked to protect and advance equity, justice, and human rights".
