The Queen was “hurt” and no longer wanted to think about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit from the Royal Family, a book has claimed.
The latest work from royal expert Katie Nicholl, The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, said that the Queen had been "exhausted" by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step back as senior royals and move to the USA.
The author claims that an anonymous friend of the Queen had said: “She was very hurt and told me, ‘I don’t know, I don’t care, and I don’t want to think about it anymore’”.

In the extract of the book, published inVanity Fair, it was alleged that the Queen was “exhausted by the turmoil of their decision”.
The book also claims that the Queen didn't like that she didn’t get to see more of her grandchildren.
"It was a source of sadness to the queen that she got to see so little of Archie and Lilibet", the book said.
The same is alleged to have gone for a missed weekend in August, where Harry and Meghan were unable to attend a couple of days in Balmoral, when the Queen would “host a “sleepover” for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren”, the book said.
Queen Elizabeth passed away at that same castle, Balmoral, on September 8 aged 96.

Her death ushers in a new era for the royal family and one that many hope will see relationships mend between the Palace and Harry and Meghan.
The book claims: “Those close to Charles say he won’t stop trying to heal the rift with his son, as he made sure Harry and Meghan were by the family’s side at the queen’s funeral. ‘He is hurt and disappointed but he has always said his love for Harry is unconditional,’ says a friend.”
