Putin declares new world order and tells the West let’s be friends

Vladimir Putin says “the age of Western domination is over” as he declared a “new world order”.

The Russian president also claimed he had told the West: “Let’s be friends, have dialogue and strengthen trust and peace.

“What did we get in response? A ‘no’ on every possible area of cooperation.”

The dictator's comments came as he sat down for a sprawling three-and-a-half Q&A at the 19th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club in Moscow.

Putin also accused Westerners of “fanning the flames” of war in Ukraine and Taiwan, sparking a global energy crisis and causing a food crisis.

His comments, which are all accusations also levelled against him, appear to be an appeal to allies in China and Africa.

Mad Vlad added: “Dominion of the world is what the West has decided to stake in this game. It is a dangerous, deadly and dirty game.”

He argued: "Russia is not challenging the Western elite. We are not trying to become the hegemon," and added his country only wanted to "defend its right to exist".

Elsewhere in the mammoth talk, he ranted about cancel culture, claiming: "Everything that happens in the world is because of the hand of the Kremlin. Are we really so all-powerful? This is nonsense! Stop blaming everything on us!"

His comments came as vicious fighting continued in the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine and amid increased drone strikes around the Kyiv region.

Ukrainian forces are understood to have surrounded the Moscow-abandoned city of Kherson from the west and are attempting to dislodge Russian influence on the west of the Dnieper River.

Fighting has also intensified in the country's east.
