Prince Harry will use his much-anticipated memoir to launch a career as a "motivational type of figure", a royal commentator has said.

LA-based Kinsey Schofield who runs the ToDiForDaily website, said the Duke of Sussex, 38, could use the tell-all book in a bid to become a "thought leader" and "public speaker" as forges a new life in California.

His memoir, The Spare – as in the heir and the spare – is due for release on January 10. Its intended autumn release was pushed back after Harry made some last minute changes – assumed to be the removal of potentially damning material – following the death of the Queen.

It is widely expected to be a warts-and-all expose on the Royal Family, in which the prince will try to "justify his authority on the subject of overcoming adversity" while putting his dad, King Charles, heir-to-the-throne brother Prince William, and his wider family "in the line of fire".

To back up her claim, Schofield referenced the Duke's recent public appearance as chief impact officer of coaching company BetterUp where he evoked Tony Robbins, an American life and business motivational speaker and coach who was big in the 80s.

She told The Express: "Ultimately, I think Prince Harry is going to try to use this book to position himself as a motivational type of figure, a thought leader, a public speaker."

"Unfortunately, to try to justify his position or his authority on the subject of overcoming an adversity he will likely be critical of his family.

"I just don't see why there would be any hesitation from the Prince if his family was not in the line of fire.
