Prince Harry ‘will see the Queen before returning to US within next 24 hours’

Prince Harry will fly back to America before the Queen's birthday but will visit her before he goes, a royal expert claims.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to miss his grandmother's celebrations of turning 95-years-old on Wednesday but will reportedly make a trip to see her before returning to the US.

Prominent female members of the royal family have set up a rota to visit the Queen, ahead of her birthday on April 21.

Prince Harry who travelled to the UK for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral is understood to be "desperate" to return to the US to be with his pregnant wife, Meghan Markle.

His hasty return comes after allegedly receiving a "frosty" reception from senior royals last week.

Mirror royal correspondent Russell Myers discussed on ITV's Lorraine the Queen's upcoming birthday and how other family members were "rallying around" the monarch so she would not be grieving her husband of 73 years, alone.

Host Lorraine asked whether the royal editor believed Harry would stay for the celebrations.

He bluntly replied: "No, I'm told not I've been told he's due to go in the next 24-hours.

"It is a shame but he is due to see the Queen before he goes.

"The royals have organised an unofficial rota system so the Queen will not be alone on her birthday – we can guarantee that.

"I think it is very important as a lot of families have had to do, to try to have a period of togetherness whether it is on socially distant walks or through Zoom calls."

Rumours suggested that Prince Harry would stay in the UK for the Queen's birthday on April 21 as the Duke purchased an open ticket for his return to America, The Express reports.

But Mr Myers revealed the prince would be returning to his heavily pregnant wife in the US who is expected to give birth sometime in June.

Meghan Markle was unable to attend the funeral after she was advised against it by a doctor due to her pregnancy.

She revealed not long after that she also did not want to be the "centre of attention" and sent wreaths to the ceremony ahead of time.

The Sun reported Prince Harry spoke to his brother William for two hours after Prince Philip's funeral last weekend as many hoped the brothers could reconcile.

But attendees at the funeral noted a "frosty" reception for Harry from senior royals like Princess Anne and Prince Edward who reportedly ignored Harry throughout the event.

Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK in June for the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue at Kensington Palace.

It would have been the first time he came face-to-face with William since his departure from the Royal Family at the beginning of 2020.
