A “butt-naked, barefoot” and muddy toddler was found wandering the streets of Oxford alone, a midwife has revealed.
Stunned shoppers crowded around the young boy in Barns Road, in Cowley, at 2pm yesterday.
Midwife Natalie Madeleine was passing by and saw a large group gathering. She feared there was a medical emergency so stopped to investigate.
She told the Oxford Mail: "I was driving and saw a big crowd on the street, so I stopped to check if a person had collapsed.
"But then I saw the poor little boy and instantly checked whether he was hurt.
"He did not seem physically hurt but had a lot of dirt on his face.
"It was very bizarre – he was wandering completely on his own and I just hope he is okay."
She asked the young boy for his name and address but he did not reply.
Ms Madeleine added: "I do not even know if he knew English as he did not speak a word.
"He seemed very disorientated."
Cops arrived within 15 minutes and took the boy away. Police are now trying to find his family.
Thames Valley Police has been contacted about the incident.
The incident happened on the same day another toddler was found wandering the streets of Hull sobbing.
Distressing footage emerged of the boy around the Hutt Street and Spring Bank areas.
A local informed the police because he was worried about the boy, reports Hull Live.
The Good Samaritan was walking in the area with his own son when he saw the boy, who appears to be around two years old.
