Meghan Markle showed “calm authority” as she claimed the Royal Family “perpetuated falsehoods” in an explosive teaser for her upcoming interview with Oprah Winfrey, a body language expert has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex and husband Prince Harry will speak to the US talkshow legend in a no-holds-barred interview for CBS on Sunday night (March 7).
A new trailer released hours ago for the eagerly-anticipated programme shows the former Suits actress blasting the Firm and saying she has no fear speaking out as she has “lost a lot” already.
And, according to body language expert Judi James, Meghan hinted she will be going into detail about what she “lost” in the full interview.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Judi said: “When she talks about the risk of losing ‘things’ her eye-direction suggests imagining the future but her heavy hint about ‘there’s a lot that has been lost already’ comes with a long blink, raised brows and a shake of the head that suggest she has more to tell at this point.”
The 39-year-old’s voice “sounded deeper” in tone than the first trailer, Judi claims, and the slower pace in which she speaks “gives no hint of anxiety, more a sense of calm authority”.
She continued: “Meghan and Oprah use even stronger postural echo here with both having a hand placed near the mouth.
“Auto-contact gestures like Meghan’s here can suggest a desire to self-comfort but with the straightened finger it more likely suggests a desire to evaluate a more complicated answers during questioning.”
The first look at the interview was released last week and showed Oprah suggesting there was a “breaking point” for Meghan and Harry.
But the duchess did not speak in the 30-second promo, unlike her husband.
That has changed in the new trailer.
“So the silent movie star of the first clip now speaks and if the Palace were hoping that all Meghan’s enigmatic glances and wry smiles were going to end in a laughing denial of Oprah’s dramatic claims it looks like they might be unlucky,” Judi added.
Buckingham Palace have declined to comment on Meghan's claims during the latest teaser for the Oprah interview.
