Meghan Markle’s best pal confirms pregnancy with Prince Harry’s ‘father figure’

Meghan Markle's best friend Katharine McPhee has shown off her baby bump for the first time on Instagram – after confirming her pregnancy with a man reportedly described as a "father figure" to Prince Harry.

The American actress and singer, 36, shared a couple of mirror selfies with her 789,000 Instagram followers, after confirming that she was expecting with musician husband David Foster, 71.

Their first child together is likely to grow up knowing Harry and Meghan's son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born in May last year.

In reports earlier this year, a source had claimed that Foster had become something of a "father figure" to the Duke of Sussex.

In the snaps Katharine is cradling her bump beneath a blue coat which fans were quick to read as a hint to the baby's gender.

Adding to the colour of the coat, she captioned the post with a blue butterfly in between two hearts.

One follower wrote: "Gorgeous!!!! Love it!!! Is the blue colour telling us anything?!"

Another said: "Oh this is some amazing news! Stunning and congrats mama!!"

Husband David added to the swathes of congratulations messages by commenting: "My most AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL GLOWING wife!"

Fans of the couple who tied the knot in June 2019 suspected they could have a baby on the way as long ago as October.

Choosing to wait, Katharine finally confirmed the news on Wednesday with some striking photos.

The baby will be David's sixth child in addition to those he has step-fathered including Gigi, Bella and Anwar Hadid, as well as Brody and Brandon Jenner, the half-brothers of Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

The couple were first introduced when Katherine was a contestant on the 2016 series of American Idol.

After David's marriage with Yolanda Foster was over, the pair became a couple despite their 34 year age gap and Katharine being 14 years younger than David's eldest daughter.
