Meghan Markle and Prince Harry PR stunts look ‘contrived’, Royal author claims

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been relying on "leaking" information through their spokesperson in a bid to make themselves look good, a royal author has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex regularly release information about their upcoming projects through their spokesperson, and even share news of private correspondence between senior Royals.

Harry and Meghan recently did this on Kate Middleton and Prince William’s 10th anniversary, stating they’d "privately congratulated" the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the milestone.

Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words, claims the couple do this to paint themselves in a flattering light, but said their efforts often backfire and they seem "contrived and manipulated."

Speaking to The Sun, Mr Dampier said the Queen and Prince Charles' public message to William and Kate was public, so Harry and Meghan's should have been too.

He told the publication releasing their private congratulations through their spokesperson made the pair appear ingenuine and unnatural.

The author said: "The Queen and Prince Charles made their messages of congratulations to William and Kate on their tenth anniversary in public so why didn’t Harry and Meghan?

"Instead they relied on their spokespeople leaking out the fact they sent a message, making it look manipulated and contrived."

Prince Harry and Meghan’s congratulations to the pair came after the Duke of Sussex jetted back home to the UK from Prince Philip’s funeral.

Meghan did not join her husband on the trip as she is at their Montecito, California home, heavily pregnant.

Since Harry returned to LA, the pair announced a new venture to add to the couple’s roster and even appeared publicly at star-studded Vax Live.

Meghan’s spokesperson confirmed the Duchess will be releasing a book on June 8, while Harry received a round of applause for his speech.
