Man sends creepy text to woman after secretly taking number from dogs collar

A man has sent a woman "creepy" text messages after secretly getting her number from her dog's collar while petting the pooch.

In a sequence of messages sent to the number, the man informs the woman that he got her number from her dog's collar and suggests that the pair "hang out" together.

But after the woman understandably did not respond to the first message, the man's tone changed.

He became angrier and called her a "tease" for having her phone number on her dog's collar.

In a screenshot shared to Reddit, the content of the two messages is revealed.

The first text, which was already enough to raise alarm bells, says: "Hey, I got your phone number from your dog's collar. Thanks for letting me pet her. We should hang out. :)"

After a lack of response to the unsolicited message, the man seem to become angry, following up with: "Why do you even have your number on her collar if you don't want people to text you? What the f***? Such a tease."

Presumably he was not aware that this is normal practice when you have a pet so that someone can contact you if your pet gets lost.

It's definitely not so that people can use it to ask you out after taking the number without asking you first.

Users on Reddit were horrified by the post, with one responding: "Wait guys, actually this is a huge deal, some men will memorise your address and phone number and stalk you."

The poster continued by offering some surprising advice, the necessity of which paints a grim picture.

"If you're getting bad vibes or they're looking at your dog's collar for a bit too long, you need to leave", they added.

A second commenter even claimed the same thing had happened to them, saying: "I had that happen to me in Austin, it was super creepy."
