A man was filmed repeatedly kicked on the ground as a huge brawl erupted at an illegal gathering of around 100 people on a Plymouth beach.
Footage taken by a bystander on Saturday (April 3) shows groups of youths punching and kicking each other in the shadow of Smeaton’s Tower at The Hoe.
Revellers are seen getting violent when they start screaming and shouting in the open space.
A man in white top falls to the ground and places his hands over his head when three, four men throw punches and kicks toward his back.
According to PlymouthLive, several police units – with around 11 vehicles – and ambulance crews were called to the area at around 8pm as several drunken fights broke out.
Last night police said they thought around 40 people were involved though it is now thought to be nearer the 100 mark. Arrests were made.
A police constable took to Twitter to share his frustrations and photos of litter left by those who had flouted Covid restrictions and gathered on The Hoe without social distancing.
He wrote: "What a total disgrace! This is just a small portion of the mess left behind on the hoe this evening. No social distancing, music, alcohol and multiple drunken fights.
"All that hard work we have all done over the last 12+ months to combat Covid-19, for a selfish few to undo it."

Plymouth City Council confirmed that its cleansing team was clearing up after the thoughtless litter louts left their rubbish all over the Hoe.
