Man jailed after threatening to kill victim in drug rampage at Haven resort

An aggressive holidaymaker who was "frothing at the mouth" while he threatened to kill a passer-by has been jailed.

Barry Houghton, 49, started a row with another guest and hurled abuse at them while staying at a Haven resort in Wales.

Llandudno Magistrates Court heard that Joshua Burt was on holiday with his family when Houghton, who looked like he had been "on drugs", targeted him at the Hafan y Mor holiday park.

Houghton thought Mr Burt was staring at him so walked up to him with his noticeably large pupils and got in his face on May 21.

He then touched his forehead with his own and called Burt a "fat little p****" and said he would "fill him in," reports North Wales Live.

Shocked witnesses said he had "white froth around the lips" during the bizarre altercation.

The court previously heard that the victim's partner and the defendant's daughter then got involved and there was a "to-ing and fro-ing" between everyone there.

Both parties left but after Mr Burt went to the Spar shop, there was another confrontation. where Houghton told him: "I'll f****** kill you."

The police were called and officers arrested Houghton. But Houghton further assaulted Mr Burt by grabbing the back of his head. The victim believed he was about to be headbutted.

Houghton, who appeared via video link from HMP Berwyn, pleaded guilty to common assault and was jailed for four weeks.

Tudor Owen, defending, said the assault amounted to a push.

Magistrates chairman Alwen Davies told Houghton: "It was a really unpleasant incident."

She jailed him for four weeks for common assault but it would be concurrent with the three-year term the defendant is already serving for an unrelated offence of possession of Class A drugs.
