Man dies in Thornton after officer-involved shooting – The Denver Post

A man died Tuesday night after a shootout with police, according to the Thornton Police Department.

An officer “encountered a suspicious adult male” at 11:15 p.m. at the Thornton Infrastructure Maintenance Center’s parking lot, located at 12450 N. Washington St., according to news release. The man exchanged gunfire with the officers and was declared dead at the setting. None of the officers suffered any injuries.

The officers have been placed on administrative leave, a department policy, while the Adams County Critical Incident Investigation Team investigates the officer-involved shooting, according to the release.

The man will be identified by the Adams County Coroner after his next of kin is notified.
