Man charged with first-degree murder in Commerce City homicide

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, according to Commerce City police.

At 3:37 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 5500 block of East 65th Street on a report of a disturbance, according to a news release. When officers arrived they found a man “jumping on top of a parked vehicle in the street.”

The man “made statements” that prompted officers to make a welfare check at a nearby residence where they found a man dead inside the home.

Jorge Hernandez, the man who was jumping on the vehicle, was arrested without further incident. Police said he’s been charged with first-degree murder.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
