Kate and William will not run scared of Harry and Meghans shadows on US trip

Royal sources have insisted that Prince William and Kate Middleton "won't be distracted" by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their trip to the US next week.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to make their first official visit to America since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to California in 2020 after stepping down from their royal duties.

They're travelling to the US to attend the Earthshot Prize ceremony and will carry out three days of public engagements in Boston.

The trip comes during a tense time between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family, with both the impending release of Prince Harry's "raw" and "unflinching" memoirs and reports that the couple's Netflix docuseries will launch next month.

The important visit will also mark William and Kate's first overseas trip since taking on their new roles as the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Just days later, Harry and Meghan are due to attend their own prize ceremony in New York where they will receive the Ripple of Hope Award for speaking up about the alleged racism they experienced while they were a part of the Royal Family.

Despite this, a foreign office source has insisted that William and Kate will not be "scared of their shadows".

They told The Telegraph: “The Palace team are highly cognizant of Meghan and Harry, but equally, they’re not scared of their shadows on this.

“William is the future King. Harry has taken his path, she's doing her podcast, they’ve got their issues, but the palace isn’t going to run scared of that, so kudos to them.”

It's expected that the royal couples will not see each other during Kate and William's visit to the US.

Royal commentator Neil Sean has said that a reunion would be unlikely due to an ongoing rift between William and Harry.

He told viewers of his YouTube channel: “According to the very good source that I have regarding William and Katherine, that sadly will not be possible, they’re planning a packed schedule with no private time for visits or downtime, very nice and regally put."

He added: “This really all centres upon the fact that William is finding it very hard to move on from all those allegations that Prince Harry put out about him and his family via the Oprah Winfrey interview."
