Prince William and Kate Middleton oozed 'modest professionalism' at the recent Earthshot Prize awards in stark contrast to the 'showboating' Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a body language expert.

Judi James has slammed Harry and Meghan following their appearance at Global Citizen Live last month, and reckons they ought to emulate the Cambridges' behaviour from Sunday.

She told the Mail Online that the Sussexes' recent public appearances "have involved much more of a rockstar-style revving up of the crowd and celebrity approach", and that the Cambridges avoid "showboating".

She also criticised Harry and Meghan's public displays of affection as opposed to William and Kate's "elegant" mannerisms and "regal" style.

However, Judi did notice one thing that William and Harry do similarly.

She said: "As he arrived at the venue looking dashing in his velvet jacket William used a 'paperclip' gesture, pushing some of his fingers inside his jacket at waist level to hold it together while some of the fingers stayed outside.

"This is an identical self-comfort barrier gesture to Harry's."

Judi explained that this was a small sign of nerves, understandable given the gravity of the evening.

William and Kate were joined by an array of A-list stars at Alexandra Palace, London, on Sunday as they presented the Earthshot Prize awards.

Emma Watson, Dame Emma Thompson, Mo Salah and Sir David Attenborough were among the attendees who packed in to see the likes of Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and KSI perform.

The ceremony, which was William's brainchild, saw five prizes of £1 million awarded to different projects from around the globe helping in the fight against climate change.

There will be a ceremony every year until 2030, with William announcing that next year's will take place in the US.

In the spirit of the evening the Cambridges donned recycled outfits. Kate opted for a lilac Alexander McQueen dress made for her in 2011, whereas William sported a recycled dark green velvet blazer and 20-year-old trousers.

The pair also made impassioned environmental pleas on behalf of younger generations.

Kate warned: "If we don’t act now, we will permanently destabilise our planet. And we will rob our children of the future they deserve."

In his speech, William admitted that older generations, his included, haven't done enough.

He said: "I want to say something to all the young people watching tonight.

"For too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future.

"But Earthshot is for you.

"Please keep learning, keep demanding change, and don’t give up hope."
