Girl, 13, falls pregnant after being raped in lockdown by uncle for six months

A 13-year-old girl became pregnant after her uncle allegedly raped her for six months in lockdown.

The 35-year-old man has been arrested and placed in jail after he was accused of raping the minor for six months in Mahbubabad district of Telangana, India.

The pair, who live in the same village in Kurivi Mandal, had both been staying put in the area throughout the coronavirus period.

The horror came to light after the victim's parents took her to hospital, The Times of India reports.

Doctors then confirmed she was five months pregnant.

Sub Inspector J Shankar said: "The man was sexually exploiting the victim for the last five to six months.

"The matter came to light after the girl's family took her to a nearby government hospital which confirmed she was five months pregnant."

The suspect has since been arrested on suspicion of rape.

A similar incident was reported in the Indian city of Navi Mumbai in October.

He was arrested almost four months after he was accused of the rape.

It is reported police initially struggled to arrest the accused as the victim only knew his first name.

The 15-year-old girl and the accused used to live in the same area during lockdown.

It wasn't until June when the teen complained of a stomach ache that it was discovered that she was pregnant.

According to reports, the teen informed her parents that she had a pain in her stomach and was taken to a doctor.

After her medical examination, doctors concluded that she was eight months pregnant.
