Driver pursued out of Wyoming who died in crash near Eaton is identified

A driver pursued by officers who died in a crash on U.S. 85 near Eaton has been identified.

Craig R. Licari, 66, of Minnesota, died Thursday in a crash during a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement authorities, according to the Weld County Coroner’s Office.

Licari allegedly led authorities on a high-speed pursuit which began in Wyoming and ended in Weld County with the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Licari was wanted in Minnesota on a parole violation, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

In 1999, Licari was convicted of second-degree murder in Minnesota in the death of his estranged wife, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. In January 2017 he was granted a supervised release from prison.

An investigation into the crash by the CSP is ongoing. The final cause and manner of his death is awaiting completion of autopsy and laboratory results.
