A dangerous and high-speed solar wind could hit Earth tonight – and if it did it could play havoc with the UK's power grid.
According to spaceweather.com, the flare will be coming from a hole in the sun at around on million miles perhour.
And it will buffet the planet's magnetosphere – which means it will try to break through our atmosphere.
While the chances of it hitting the Earth is classed as “slight”, if it were to hit us than our power grids will begin to fluctuate, due to the unstable nature of the wind.
It will also cause issues with satellites which control the GPS on apps such as Google Maps.
And if that wasn't enough, it will also confuse migratory animals, such as birds, that fly at higher altitudes than normal at this time of year.
It is thought that the solar particles could throw them off course.
No official Government warning about the wind has been issued, but that is probably down to the fact that it is not likely to hit us.
According to the experts at Space.com: “The corona, the sun's outer layer, reaches temperatures of up to 2 million degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 million degrees Celsius). At this level, the sun's gravity can't hold on to the rapidly moving particles, and they stream away from the star.
“The velocity of the solar wind is higher over coronal holes, reaching speeds of up to 500 miles (800 kilometers) per second.

“The temperature and density over coronal holesare low, and the magnetic field is weak, so the field lines are open to space.
“These holes occur at the poles and low latitudes, reaching their largest when activity on the sun is at its minimum.
“Temperatures in the fast wind can reach up to 1 million F (800,000 C).”
If it did hit us and was that hot, you can be sure that British beaches would be full of sun-chasers and beer drinkers.
