Cops hunt man who takes off schoolgirls shoes and sniffs their feet

Cops are on the hunt for a man who is targeting young girls and persuading them to remove their shoes before sniffing their feet.

Officers have released an E-fit of a person they want to trace in connection with the string of bizarre incidents.

It comes after three lone schoolgirls were approached by a man who asked them for their time, convinced them to take their shoes off and smelled their feet.

Police are now warning pupils at schools in Gloucestershire to be wary of the man whose behaviour is possibly linked to similar reports dating back to March of this year.

Incidents include a girl who is believed to have been touched inappropriately in an underpass in Yate, Gloucestershire.

The man is described as white, around 19 years of age, 5ft 6" tall, skinny build, patchy beard, short blonde/brown hair, blue eyes and a spotty complexion.

A police spokesman said: "We're releasing an E-fit of a man we want to identify in connection with an incident in which a teenage girl was touched inappropriately.

"The victim described the offender as white, with blonde hair and aged in his 20s around 5ft 9in tall.

"He was wearing a light red, blue and white block colour coat, dark trousers and blue trainers."

The police spokesman added: "Officers are also keeping an open mind as to whether the incident is linked with another which took place on Monday, March 21 at 4.30pm.

"In this incident a white man touched a girl inappropriately in an underpass near Sandhurst Street, Yate. On both occasions the victims ran away and were unhurt.

"The E-Fit image we're releasing is based on the description of the offender in the first incident."
