A former drama teacher at a high school has been sentenced to nine months in prison after grooming her former pupil into an inappropriate relationship.
Kim Connor, the former head of performing arts at St Monica’s RC High School in Prestwich, has been banned from teaching indefinitely after years of abusing an underage student.
The victim was just nine-years-old when the mother-of-two began working at the school.

Connor, 48, was found guilty of three counts of engagement in sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust, and three counts of inciting a child to commit sex acts by a person in a position of trust, after a trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
Connor was sentenced to nine months in prison and put on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years in July 2020.
Her indefinite ban from teaching came as a result of an employment tribunal determining that her continued employment as a teacher will result in the potential risk of pupils.
A report published following the tribunal stated: “Ms Kim Connor is prohibited from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England.
“Furthermore, in view of the seriousness of the allegations found proved against her, I have decided that Ms Kim Connor shall not be entitled to apply for restoration of her eligibility to teach.”
The victim told the court during the trial that Ms Connor had "taken the best years of my life".
She said that her that "love for life has vanished" and her "dreams and aspirations of theatre have been tarnished" and added that "what Kim Connor did affected me for years".

She added: "She told me to keep the relationship a secret, not through excitement, but because it was wrong."
Alongside the teaching at the performing arts school, the court heard that Ms Connor provided the victim with private tuition from the ages of 10 to 14.
The relationship between the pair was said to have become sexual after the girl had turned 16 and was broken off when she turned 20.
