Photographer Kristen Zaffiro, based in Cincinnati, shared the hilarious photographs on Facebook with the caption: “THIS photo session…I laughed so hard! Who knew when I told THIS horse to smile, he would!! Best maternity session ever.”
The pictures show Amanda Eckstein and her partner Phillip E Werner, posing with their horses to celebrate the couple and their pregnancy. However, Buckshot the horse stole the show with his big cheesy grin.
The photos have gone viral, receiving 140,000 likes and 30,000 comments.
One woman said: “These are awesome. So much love for the pictures. Congratulations to the family, including the four-legged ones.”
Another replied: “I think you won the photographer’s lottery!! Congrats, awesome pictures!”
A third said: “Great pictures! You did such a fantastic job of capturing the horse’s antics and the couple’s reaction. Priceless!”
A fourth added: “Those are not photos. They are memories made for them to have in photos to tell their child. I love it . Made me smile and laugh so hard. Beautiful work.”
Ms Eckstein told Today Parents that Buckshot “loves to be the centre of attention and being in the midst of everything.
“Like our maternity shoot is all about him. We were trying to get photos with the rest of our horses, and he would keep walking by. He knew what he was doing.”

Ms Eckstein described Buckshot as a “class clown” and said he is notorious for getting into mischief on their farm.
She added: “He will open the gates and set the other horses loose and he thinks it’s funny to bust through fences.
“He is constantly doing silly things, like we have had horses untied in the middle of the night.”
Ms Eckstein’s baby boy was born on June 21 and the photographer confirmed she would be returning soon to get some shots of Buckshot with the new arrival.
