Separate violent incidents around the Denver metro area over the weekend left 10 people injured and two people dead, police said.
The series of shootings and stabbings occurred between Friday and Sunday in Aurora, Denver and Thornton.
A 16-year-old boy was killed by gunfire Friday in Aurora and a man who was a suspect in a Saturday stabbing in Green Valley Ranch died in a house fire.
The 16-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in the 12700 block of E. Asbury Circle around 2:30 p.m. Friday, according to Aurora police. The boy died in the hospital.
One person was shot and injured around 5 p.m. Friday near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Quebec Street in Denver, police say. The victim is expected to survive. Denver7 reported that a stray bullet from this shooting nearly hit a child in the back seat of a nearby car.
The Aurora Police Department also responded to 2204 S. Quentin Way around 8 p.m. Friday after one person was shot and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police in Thornton say that two men sustained serious injuries in a shooting in the 880 block of Washington Street around 1 a.m. Saturday. Both men are expected to survive their injuries.
Denver police say they took a man into custody on charges of aggravated assault after a stabbing Saturday afternoon in the 12100 block of E. Albrook Drive. One man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A woman in Aurora was hit with a bullet at 138 N. Del Mar Circle at about 8 p.m. Saturday. Her injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
A juvenile girl was wounded by gunfire in the 4300 block of North Tejon Street around 11 p.m. Saturday, Denver police said.
Police are investigating a stabbing Saturday at a Green Valley Ranch home, where a fire also broke out. The stabbing victim was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said. The stabbing suspect, an adult male, died in the fire, police said. The incident began just before midnight on Saturday and police reported the man died in the hospital Sunday morning.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday, police reported that they responded to a stabbing in the 2000 block of Lawrence Street. A man was injured and is expected to survive. Another man was taken into custody as police investigate a possible assault.
And around 9 a.m. Sunday, a 22-year-old man was shot in Aurora. The man was wounded in the hand during an altercation near Tower Road and Hampden Boulevard.
