Over 100 vehicles were involved in devastating pileups caused by icy road conditions that left cars and trucks completely totalled.

Wisconsin emergency services responded to the multiple-vehicle crash on I-94 at mile marker 96 in Jackson County at 5.45am this morning.

Motorist Mike Olsen, who witnessed the incident, said there were about 20 semi-trucks that crashed into each other on the northbound lane, including several who had been travelling south.

Olsen filmed at least five of the semi-trucks on fire at around 8am – after they were involved in separate crashes with passenger vehicles.

The Wisconsin State Patrol said many vehicles were trapped after the highway was closed in both directions.

According to Fox News, the eastbound and westbound lanes of the road remain closed.

Miraculously, there were no fatalities or injuries reported from the scene.

Passengers were transported by bus following the incident.
