The UK is expecting to broker a trading arrangement with the US as Joe Biden as President as part of our post-Brexit relationship. Louisa from Essex called into the Jeremy Vine show to voice her frustration at the Democratic leader for attempting to dictate what the UK should do on Brexit. Joe Biden’s administration and a multitude of political commentators have hinted that the UK needs to strike a deal with the European Union and scrap the Internal Market Bill before the US will agree on a trade deal with the UK.

The caller insisted that no foreign leader should tell the UK how to behave on any of the agreements with other parties.

The show host Jeremy Vine said: “Why is Joe Biden bad for Britain, is it because he is a Remainer?”

The caller replied: “It is not just because he is a Remainer.

“How dare he think he can dictate to this country what we can and can’t do.

“America, including Joe Biden, would never accept a dictatorship from another country.

“No American President has ever allowed another country to dictate what they can and can’t do with their own rules and regulation and trade deals.

“He thinks he can interfere with us?”

Mr Vine interrupted to say that while Joe Biden cannot force the UK to take action, he has leverage because of Britain’s need for a trade deal.

He said: “We are asking Joe Biden for a deal, so the leverage he has is he can say you are not going to get one.

“That is the leverage because we need a deal.”

The caller answered: “Why do we need a deal?

“This country is very good and don’t you think it rebuilt itself after the last two world wars?”

Brexiteer MPs have also lashed out at Joe Biden for his interference in the Brexit negotiations.

Former Tory leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith told Channel 4 News that Joe Biden should look at his own problems in the US before interfering with the UK’s.

He said: “It’s nothing to do with them and we will get on with our legislation.

“We are a sovereign nation, that’s what we voted for.

“And therefore sovereign nations have the right to be sovereign.

“If I was Joe Biden, I would look to his own domestic problems rather than ours.”
