Despite fears London would lose its place as a world-leading financial hub, the number of jobs in the capital’s financial services industry more than doubled. In the three months leading to December last year, the number of jobs hit 8,140, which was more than double than the same period in 2020. Such is the surge in jobs, Hakan Enver, managing director at Morgan McKinley UK said Remoaner fears had now been dispelled.

He told City AM: “Back in 2016, there were numerous reports circulating that up to 100,000 jobs would be lost from the UK to the EU following Brexit.

“Five years later, this hasn’t happened and is likely never to happen in those volumes.”
