Mum dies falling on treadmill in horror gym accident as family pays tribute

A mum-of-four has died after she fell and hit her head while running on a treadmill.

Delrie Rosario, 36, was working out at an LA Fitness in Washington state, US last Friday (July 21) when tragedy struck, local news outlet KIRO 7 reported.

The late parent's sister Marissa Woods, who was working out with her at the time, described the incident as a "bizarre accident" and told the station the pair of then used treadmills in the gym nearly every day.

"She tried to slow the machine down. I thought maybe she just missed a step," Woods said. "She just collapsed [and] hit her head on the machine."

Following the accident Rosario became unconscious and Woods started shouting for help, asking others in the gym if they knew CPR.

Other athletes rushed to her aide and Rosario was taken to a local hospital.

But despite efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Woods said her sister was a "mother first" and recalled how she worked two jobs to support her four children.

"A mother first. Always everything she did was for kids," Woods told the outlet. "She worked so hard for kids."

Rosario had opted to be an organ donor before her death and Woods said the family are now finding comfort in the fact her tragic death will now mean other lives can be saved.

A GoFundMe campaign created for her children explained her heart, lungs, kidneys and liver were donated to patients in need.

“Five people, literally like right now! She’s saving lives. How big can your heart be to still be saving lives?” Woods said.

“Just think, somebody’s walking around…with her big heart. They don’t even know what heart they’re about to get.”
